This Saturday, 26th November, is the Grizedale Rally and it is sponsored by Hippo Motor Group. We are not only sponsoring it, but #TeamHippo will be competing in it as well, with driver, Tom Preston taking the wheel of our Skoda Fabia R5. Team Hippo will be the 7th seeded car out of 75 competitors.
This year, the Grizedale Rally is a compact rallying event with six stages. Four of those stages are over 7.5 miles in distance. Add that all up and the competitors will be rallying over 40 stage miles and only 43 road miles. It can all be done in a single day. Therefore, it starts and ends on Saturday 26th November.
Scrutineering and signing-on begins on Friday evening at 4PM and continues again on Saturday morning from 7AM onwards. However, the first car starts in Coniston at 9:30AM. From star to finish, car after car will rallying through the Grizedale stages, attempting to set the best possible times with the final car finishing around 3PM in Skelwith Fold.
Tom Preston, Hippo Motor Group’s Director has said: “This will be the fourth time that we have competed in the event and we are looking forward to continuing the pace we showed at the Rally GB.”
“We are really happy to be sponsoring the Grizedale Rally. It is a brilliant local event and the stages are fantastic, which is why they attract such great entries. We also wish to organisers luck. Every year they do a great job at putting on this event. And this year, Hippo Motor Group will be hosting a VIP area for rally enthusiasts, competition winners and some of our staff.”
On the 14th November, Hippo Motor Group announced the winning design for our Skoda Fabia R5. We ran a competition on Facebook asking our followers to decide between three new wrap designs. The votes came in and the choice was overwhelming the darker design of purple and black. We chose Eight winners from the competition and they will have a great view of the day’s events from our Hippo Motor Group VIP tent. Hopefully, they will be able to spot their chosen design on our rally car as it roars passed the tent.
